About Us SuzieQ and DocT are Kathy (Sue) and Ron Taylor. Suzie is a nurse (cardiac cath lab) and DocT is an ER doc. We have been together since 1991. DocT grew up in Bossier City, LA and SuzieQ grew up in Byesville, OH. Doc's father came from East Texas and his mother came from Germany. His cooking reflects his redneck, German, and French/Cajun/Creole background. Suzie had a more traditional, Midwest culinary upbringing. Doc's father cooked with a split 55 gallon drum. Being in northwest Louisiana at the east Texas border, pecan and hickory where the woods of choice. In the early 1980's, Doc moved to Columbus, Ohio. A bullet type water smoker replaced the 55 gallon drum. Next came a New Braunfels offset. The New Braunfels got a big brother, a Lang 84 deluxe. The latest addition is an FE100. Somewhere along the line, a WSM popped up. On the grill side, we love Weber (Platinum Joe, Performer, and Genesis B Silver), and TEC (Patio II). We have been cooking for fun for years. We are both CBJ's (KCBS). In 2003, we started cooking competitively and for private functions. We also provide cooking lessons and private chef services. Our cooking philosophy is simple, we use quality ingredients and we love what we do. BBQ is obviously a favorite, but we also do baked goods, hot and cold appetizers, soups, chili, gumbo's, jambalaya's, seafood in general, turkey, duck, turduken roulade, most ethnic cooking, desserts and candies. We love trying different recipes, equipment and techniques.
